Opera Mini button

Opera Mini Browser ScreenshotSo, my new favorite toy for my phone has got to be Opera Mini.

Compared to the built in browser that came with my phone, it has so many more features. It uses a remote server to pre-render pages to fit my phone.

On the built in browser, any page not formatted for WAP will load, but be incredibly large, and require lots of horizontal and vertical scrolling. It also has problems rendering pages that include dynamic data or embedded media.

With Opera Mini, pages render so that they require no side to side scrolling. All images are resized to fit your phone and enable quicker download times. You can set the preference to download full size images if you want, however, which could come in handy. Opera makes it easy to scroll through long pages by using the left and right arrow keys to effectively do a page down or page up move.

The main page features field for search and URL entry, as well as bookmarks and history. Bookmarks are easy to add and you are able to customize which ones you would like to see on the homepage. The first 9 bookmarks on the homepage also have shortcut codes assigned to them (*1 through *9).

I had a fun weekend, I went on Friday to get a haircut at the usual place. Didn't feel like doing much that night though, so I just spent it at home hanging out. Saturday was the morning of the pride parade, bright and early at 9. That wasn't happening. I slept in, woke up, drank coffee, sat around the house; smoking cigarettes on the deck.

Mark called around 4 and told me he was at Alibi's, it was packed, and he was trashed. I wanted to go out, but come on, it was only 4, I was still in the clothes I put on when I woke up, and hadn't showered. It did sound like fun though. The street festival went from 11 to 4, and it started raining heavily at about that time.

Plus, I didn't want to drive. I knew if I went out that early I would not want to have my car with me... So, this guy, Joe, who I've talked to online before, offered to pick me up and I said sure. I got ready and showered, even ate something, and then he picked me up. We went to Alibi around 7, maybe even a little earlier. At that point, people had started to clear out. Mark had left, Robert was at Suncoast.

Drama came into my life recently. Well, actually not that recently. A long time ago, when I was naive and in love, which is generally a dangerous situation, for certain in my case; I dated took care of this guy. He wasn't a great guy, he never did anything for birthdays, valentine's day, etc. He lived with me rent and bill free for over a year. He cheated on me, I broke up with him. Problem was, at this point, we still lived together. He was Crazy! He would check up on me and drive around the neighborhood when he knew I was on my way home so he could see who I was with. He beat me up, followed me around town yelling at me like a crazy person. Yeah, not fun.

We got back together; like so many crappy relationships that are so intense... The second year was bad, to say the least. He cheated on my several more times. We eventually mutually decided to not see each other. For over a year we didn't speak. I wouldn't have minded speaking to him, but he would not talk to me, so that's how it was.

He decided to start talking to me right before I moved to Florida. Once I was here he would IM me constantly. It was very confusing, as I was thousands of miles away... And was in a new place with new friends, finally away from him. Yet he was talking to me all the time.

When he moved here, we started hanging out. A lot. One night I said some things to him that I probably shouldn't have. Nothing serious, but it offended him. We haven't spoke since then. This was over a year ago. Earlier this year, he decided, when he broke up with his boyfriend, that he wanted to be friends again. He didn't talk to me or try to apologize, he told Walter he wanted to talk to me again. Walter told me, and I thought it was ridiculous. It took a lot for me to avoid him that night. All it would've taken was a friendly conversation and I would've been caught back in his tangled web...

I've been through it before, I know that any friendship that we might have will end with him spouting off about how crazy I am, about him and in general. In all reality, I just wish he would leave me alone; I wish I would never hear from him again.

So, back to the part where I said drama recently came into my life. I didn't ask for it, I didn't do anything, it just arrived on my doorstep... Walter told me that He was accusing me of deleting his myspace profile. My first reaction was amusement. He pissed someone off enough that they did that to him... Hmmm, big surprise there, he treats people like shit... I've been treated like shit by him, I know what it feels like.

Creepy Omen KidI went last night to see the Omen with Nick. I'd heard bad reviews for it, and people I know who'd already gone to see it said that I wouldn't like it.

But I did. I'd never seen the original version, so it was completely new to me. The beginning was kind of slow, but the suspense and action built up throughout the movie. Its ending also came as quite a surprise.

We had our first named storm for Hurricane Season 2006: Alberto. On Monday, it was raining horribly on my way to work. I only have a 10 minute drive, but I could barely see. When I finally got here, despite the umbrella, I managed to get completely soaked. It rained pretty much the entire day. We did need the rain, but it was still inconvenient, I had to cancel my lunch plans and just stay here and be hungry.

On Monday evening, I was hanging out at home when I noticed I had some voicemails. My phone hadn't rang, so I had no idea who it was from, and I actually checked them. It was my supervisor calling to tell me that our office building had been closed for Tuesday.

On Friday evening, I had planned to go out with Nick. He had offered to drive to Chambers. After work, I gassed up my car and went to pick up Shane, who was running late. I then took him to the mall to get his hair cut, which also took longer than usual. We didn't get back to the house until about 8. Nick came over at about 8:30. I had to shower and get ready still.

Oh, and joy of joys, when Shane and I got home, our stove and sink had been hooked up by the plumber. It's so exciting to be able to turn on the stove and run water in the kitchen after not being able to for four months. It also means that our kitchen is functional. There are minor things that still need done, but they are just aesthetic; window and door trim, etc...

It's almost 4:30 and when I get off of work, Walter will be leaving. Moving back to Detroit, stopping in Pittsburgh along the way. I'm kind of envious, I'd love to be able to go with him, I miss home so badly.

I don't know what I'm gonna do without Walt around. Seriously, we've spent a lot of time together lately. I hate when friends leave or move away. I know this is good for Walt, but I know it's still gonna hurt. I guess it's different when you're the one moving away, when I left PA, I didn't even think twice, didn't even say goodbye.

I got a call from Shane on Friday. He was not feeling well and wanted me to pick him up from his job after work. So, I did. I had been planning on going to gay days at Disney. I had originally thought that my friend, Casey was going to Disney, and he had invited me along. I also had an invitation from my ex, Cody, who works at Disney.

I talked to Case briefly on Friday, while I was waiting for Shane, and he said he would call me back when he had more details. Shane and I went to the mall. I needed a haircut badly, and felt much better afterwards.

When I got home, I tried to call Cody and didn't get an answer. I was kinda pissed about that, as he was all about me coming out to Orlando for the weekend. But anyways, I didn't hear back from either Casey or Cody.

Nick had called and asked if I had wanted to go to Georgie's that night, and I decided I would, though it took me a while to get ready to actually go. I was feeling kind of crappy, as I'd gotten caught in the rain the day before, and came down with a slight cold.

So, I didn't let Nick know what was going on, and by the time I decided to actually leave, he was already in bed. So, I went with just Walter. Alibi wasn't too busy, but Walt and I hung out at the back bar and it was a pretty good time. We danced for a minute, mainly because Walt wanted to dance with this guy Jeremy.

Afterwards, we went to the St. Pete Diner with Jeremy and his 3 girlfriends. It was interesting, as that place always is during the bar rush. Walt and I left there and came back to Swaying Palms. We had some cocktails and talked for a really long time about a lot of things.
