So, on Thursday evening, I went to Alibi and met Mark there. We hung out for a bit, had some long islands, then went to my house. We watched some family guy on the big screen, cuddled, and talked. I was up sooo late. Only got maybe about 2 hours of sleep.

On Friday, I came home from work and took a nap. Woke up and tried to decide whether I wanted to go out or not. Called Mark and he said he wasn't sure what he was going to do, but thought he was going to stay in. I laid down and turned on the TV. Watched about 15 minutes of America's Next Top Model, then was bored with that. I asked Shane if he wanted to go to Chamber's, and he did, so I got ready.

[Life ] 29 December, 2005 16:53

I called off on Tuesday, I still wasn't feeling up to par. My whole body was aching, and I thought I might be coming down with the flu... Stayed around the house and got some rest.

So, Mark wanted to go out last night, so we decided to meet up at the Male Room, since they usually have their amateur talent night. Cengiz also met us there. Shane and I got there a couple minutes after Mark did. The place was pretty empty. We drank a couple pitchers and it was getting later on in the evening. We kept drunkenly asking each other, where is the DJ, where is the drag queen... They played the same CD twice. Mark and I were making out at the bar. haha.

We decided to go before they played the CD a third time. We went to Cityside, where Mark bought me a shot. I tried it, but I just couldn't do the whole thing. I gave it to Shane.

OK, so Shane and I went to see Memoirs of a Geisha last night. First off, we were slightly late, because there was no parking in the Baywalk garage, so we could only find seats in the absolute front row of the movie theatre. In my opinion, they don't have any business putting seats that close to a screen that big. I was constantly swinging my head to view action on one side of the screen, then the other. Shane said he was getting motion sickness.

Secondly, I've read the book, and thought it was incredibly good. I guess it was kind of an introspective book. The main character comes to terms with a situation that is out of her control, i.e., getting sold to a Geisha house by her family. It did not translate to a movie well, at ALL!

So, I was extremely tired when I got home from work on Friday. I showered, ate, and passed out. I woke up really late, like 3 AM, I think. I sat down at the computer and saw that I had an IM from Matt. He was like, This is Matt, I'm alive, just in case you wanted to know. He had blocked me. I added him to a different buddy list and talked to him briefly.

I watched Gangs of New York, which, I really liked. I thought it was a really great movie, I was so into it. Then, I watched the documentary about the movie from the Discovery Channel, or something. It was interesting. I stayed up for a bit and then went back to bed for a while.

On Saturday, Christmas Eve, Shane and I went to the mall. I really wanted a haircut. The mall was just closing though, I was so mad. So we went to the liquor store instead. I bought some of the new Starbucks Liqeur - It is fabulous. lol. I was considering going out to Alibi, I was invited by this guy, Steve, but I was kinda tired and went to sleep early.

[Life ] 23 December, 2005 13:11

So, I talked to Mark on Monday evening while he was getting packed. I told him what the weather was like, and we made some tentative plans for while he is here. He gets in on Tuesday at 5AM.

On Wednesday, I was planning on going to the Male Room for their amateur talent show. Well, really, just to get out and do something. I didn't feel like sitting at the house. Shane was gonna come with me. I was upstairs doing something on my computer and Mark text messaged me and said something like I should stop by on my way to the Male Room. Well, I wasn't planning on leaving to go to Tampa until later on, cuz Cengiz didn't get out of work until 12.

So, I decided to go pick Mark up and hang out around Palm Harbor. I guess I hadn't realized how long of a drive it was to Palm Harbor. It's not really far, it just takes forever cuz you have to take RT 19. But anyways, I really wanted to see Mark, so I didn't care. lol

My weekend was good. It was pretty relaxing, and I feel rested, bright and early on Monday morning. On Friday, after work, I went home and did some laundry/ cleaning of my room. I got it to a point where it looks good, I just have to organize my desk, which is a serious task, and maintain it at a clean level. Which is easier said than done. But... anyways...

Later on, Jay said that he would drive Shane and I out to Chambers. So I figured that was cool. I had Shane drive my car down to the bank. I got money from the ATM, and he practiced driving in the parking lot. When we got back home, I talked to Jay, and he had decided to stay in for the evening. Well, I really didn't want to drive myself out to the club, so I fretted for a bit, and even decided not to go for a while.

Walter called me and asked if I was coming, cuz Keith and him had gotten there really early. Keith was in the background saying how I had to come out because I was rude to him last time he saw me. Possibly, but not on purpose.

So, I talked to Cengiz and kind of asked him if he could drive. So, I met him at his house. Shane, Cengiz, his friend Dee, and I went there together. The first show had already started, but I was kind of over it. They had some hideous X-Mas decorations up by the stage. So I went upstairs and said hello to David. Once again he was making my Grey Goose and Crans for a very low price. lol.

I found Walter and talked to him for a bit. Keith was walking up the stairs when I was going upstairs, and waited for me at the top to say hello, and tell me how drunk/high he was... Walter ended up losing $30, which he was understandably upset about. I told him I'd buy him any drinks he needed, but he was still bummed.

I think I've been to Chambers too much, it's so routine. I've only been there twice recently, but it's the same thing. I have nothing new to report. Show, drinks, dancing, drinks, second show, drinks, dancing... etc.

So, the four of us went back to Cengiz's house. His roommate came home a little after we did with her friends, who were also really drunk. Cengiz kept me up late ;) hehe, and then woke up all early on Saturday morning. I got up around 11, and he was getting ready to go to his graduation. The plan was for me to go get cleaned up and drive back to Tampa for his graduation. I got home though, and had a headache, and just felt so totally unmotivated. I didn't do much of anything on Saturday, other than go to bed early. Shane and I played Super Mario World for a while, which was a good time. I love playing it on the projector, cuz you can see all the cheesy little details that you would never otherwise notice.

In times where American soldiers are spread across the world, fighting for freedom, justice, democracy, our civil liberties are being eroded. Yes, September 11 was an awful thing, but in all fairness, European countries have been dealing with extremism/terrorism for decades.

The USA Patriot Act allows the FBI, with a court order, to obtain secret warrants for business, library, medical, and other records, and to get a wiretap on every phone a suspect uses. The Act broadens the government's powers of surveillance and prosecution of suspected terrorists.

The House has approved renewal of the 16 provisions that are expiring at the end of 2006. Critics of the bill in the Senate have filibustered a vote on the act. Supporters were 8 votes short of moving the bill into cloture, which requires 60 votes.

On Friday, the New York Times reported that G.W. Bush had authorized the NSA to surveil US citizens' international calls and internet communications without the required court order. This means that one of the key checks in our government, the separation of powers into three branches, has been circumvented. We are setting up democracies half way around the world, while coming one step closer to being a dictatorship at home.

The white house made no comment on the NYT report on Friday. Senators held up copies of the report during hearings to signify the government's misuse of the Patriot Act. On Saturday, the administration admitted to the authorization and justified it as a necessary tool in the fight against terrorism.

Rules against spying on Americans were created based on fundamental constitutional rights. If we abandon our ideals at home, how can we think we're going to make a difference abroad. Bush secretly authorized the United States government to spy on their own citizens, has scrapped the Geneva Conventions, American law and Army regulations when it came to handling prisoners in the war on terror, setup secret prisons in Eastern Europe. How does this look to the rest of the world. How does this look to the Iraqi people, who we are trying to encourage to setup a Constitutional Democracy?

The president gave a 16 minute address from the Oval Office last night, the first such address since 2003 when the decision to invade Iraq was announced.

I went home after work yesterday and wrapped the presents for my sister and mom. I'm gonna take them to the UPS store on my lunch break. I hope it's not too insane there.

Well, it's Friday, Thank GOD! Um, I was thinking about going out to Alibi last night. After I wrapped presents and took a shower, I laid down. I was going to take a nap. And I did wake up around 10:30, but I was like, fuck it... And slept the rest of the night. I have such issues with the whole nap thing. I enjoy sleep too much, I guess.

So, I got calls from Kevin and Justin. I had actually seen Kevin downtown yesterday, which was kind of odd. I was driving home for my lunch break, and I saw a hot guy and was kind of checking him out. Then I was like, oh, it's just Kevin. He was with some older guy. Anyways, so, I got a bunch of text messages too, so I guess Georgie's was hoppin' last night... lol.

I thought this was amusing, so I'm reposting it:

First of all, I’m happy you finally agreed to an interview! So welcome, Larry.

Thanks. Glad to be here.

I know you’re quite busy, as always. Has the pressure on you increased after Sergey retired?

Not really. I mean, I work 12 hours a day... not much has changed with that. I guess I get less work done than before, but then again, we have such a great team of engineers to support our vision. Which other company can boast to have over 10,000 PhDs in their headquarters alone?

That’s right... now I don’t want to rehash all the rumors that were spinning in the industry 5 years ago. Just this question, are you still in good terms with Sergey?

Of course we are. He’s still a bit of a technology consultant. Holo-conferencing technology is so real these days, it really doesn’t matter that he’s in his Hawaii mansion. He might as well be in the Googleplex 2. As he said 5 years ago, he retired simply to relax, take a break – and there’s not much we could, or should want to change about it. If ever he decides to return, the doors are open for him, and he knows it. With the dramatically increased life span for those of us living today, he can take all the time he needs for a break.

[Life ] 15 December, 2005 11:28

So, it's Thursday already. This week has gone by so fast, which is a good thing.

On Sunday, I went to go see Chronicles of Narnia at Baywalk. I really liked the movie. I hope they come out with more movies in the future. It seems likely.

I still haven't been back to the tanning bed. I'm kind of waiting to see what's going to happen. My skin is still really dry, and I'm afraid it's going to start to peel. But I look pretty tan, which is nice. I'll probably stop by either today or tomorrow. Eventually, I'm just going to get a membership at Gold's, where Mikey goes, they have tanning beds there. ;) So, two birds, one stone. I'm just an excellent procrastinator.

So, in other news, we have a Homer Simpson Christmas character set up by the door. He sings christmas songs and talks. He's frickin' hilarious. And motion activated, which is a little sensitive, apparently... On Monday morning, while I was getting ready for work, he was going on and on. He must've gone through every little routine he has. I was kinda creeped out, because I didn't think anyone was downstairs. There wasn't anyone downstairs. I turned him off and pointed him towards the wall. That was a very random paragraph, I suppose. But it's creepy. In my big, old house, I don't want motion sensors to go off when there is no one in the room.... no!!!... lol

Hey there, I saw that you found my blog yesterday afternoon. The password is once again, your middle name. (More)
[Life ] 11 December, 2005 13:41

I slept most of the day on Saturday, despite my plans to get a lot done. Finally woke up around 4. My horoscope for the day said something about the longer you wait to be active, the less likely you'll get anything accomplished.

So, Shane and I went to Wal*Mart. We needed groceries, and I was gonna buy some small things to send to my mom. On the way there, I was driving, and Shane started freaking out cuz there was a spider on my windshield. Shane killed it, and there were guts all over the windshield in front of me. So I pulled over and went to Walgreens to get some Windex wipes and sanitizer. We cleaned all of my windows in my car, and oh my goodness. It makes such a difference. I can see so well now. My windows would always fog up really easily, and had a kind of haze over it that made headlights glow and made everything hard to see. I knew it was dirty, but damn... Oh, not to mention that the 'haze' that came off my windshield was obviously from cigarette smoke. :(

Shane thought it would be a good idea for us to each have our own carts at Wal*Mart. That way we could do our individual shopping and then meet up at the checkout. However, since we don't each need to buy certain things, i.e. milk, bread, etc., there really is no need for us to split up, since we have to split these purchases anyways. So what ended up happening was we spent 2 and a half hours there and each spent about $250 on each of our heaping carts. It was awful. After we spent another hour putting everything away at the house, I needed a drink. I had talked to Frank, who wanted me to meet him at Alibi for a drink.

[Life ] 10 December, 2005 19:18

So, I got out of work a little bit early on Friday. At 4:35, someone was like, you can leave now if you'd like. It didn't take me long at all to be down the stairs and out the door. I realized while I was walking to the car that everyone thought I was sick, I was looking a little red from tanning, and that may have been why I got to go a little early. But everyone else had pretty much cleared out anyways by that point, so maybe not.

Also, I had forgotten my bag of presents in my office. :( So, I went home for a little bit and had some food. Then I went to pick up Shane and took him to cash his check. Then we found the nearest tanning place and went tanning. My bed didn't start up automatically like they usually do, so I had to get redressed and go get the cashier. She had forgot to hit the button, so she gave me 20 minutes instead of the 15 I had purchased. I had just gotten the 15 cuz I was afraid I was burnt if I went too much. When you burn in a tanning bed, it defeats the purpose, cuz then your skin dies and flakes off, along with your tan. Being bed burnt is not fun either. I've gotten seriously ill from tanning before.

So anyways, we left that place, and I was all toasty, I had to turn the A/C on in my car. We were supposed to go grocery shopping, and Shane wanted to buy some shoes, and get his hair cut, etc. But after the tanning, I just felt like going home. So I did. I ate something, and took a shower. I got dressed up to go out.

Frank had cancelled on me, we were supposed to meet up to see Chronicles of Narnia, but he said he wasn't feeling well. So I talked to Toby and he said he would drive if I wanted to go out with him. But he said to be at his house by 9:30. It was 9. So I hurried up and shaved, threw whatever I needed in a bag, and ran out the door. I got to his house at about quarter til. At that point, we weren't getting in for free, so we just hung out at his apartment for a bit. His roommate, Robyn, who I had met at Alibi on Thursday was there getting ready to go out also.

It's kind of strange, I haven't been feeling like talking to/hanging out with Toby lately. But on Thursday night, I don't really know what it was, I just had the feeling that I had judged him too harshly, and that I should hang out with him more often, cuz he really is a nice guy... Anyways, we left his apartment for Chambers. We were both dressed all in black. It was kind of fabulous.
